Since 2018, our Black History Month celebrations highlighted the organisations and inspirational people working to improve the lives the Caribbean & African community across Greater Manchester and beyond.
This evening is open to all who would like to celebrate Black History Month with us and honour the changemakers driving progress in our communities.
These recognitions celebrate exceptional leadership, innovation and impact across every part of the system working to advance equity and strengthen community wellbeing. They honour contributions from public services, voluntary and community organisations, faith groups, social enterprises, private sector partners, housing providers, health and care systems, education settings, criminal justice agencies and environmental organisations.
The awards highlight individuals, teams and organisations whose work has created meaningful change through strategic leadership, community-rooted action, cross-sector collaboration, cultural and creative practice or pioneering new approaches that address long-standing inequities.
Together, these recognitions showcase the breadth of commitment across the UK to building safer, healthier and more equitable communities, and celebrate those who are driving progress with compassion, creativity and shared purpose.
We are delighted to announce the Black History Month Recognition Evening 2026, taking place on Saturday 24th October 2026 | The Manchester Deansgate Hotel (formerly the Hilton) | 6pm.
We hope you’ll join us in celebrating Black excellence this year.
